The World Health Organisation has said that giving birth laying flat on your back is 'clearly harmful and needs to be eradicated'. All medical professionals agree, yet the majority of women in the West are still giving birth this way.
Upright labour positions such as kneeling and squatting have been medically proven to shorten labour, reduce birth pain, open the pelvic outlet and reduce vaginal tearing. Alias promotes and facilitates the adoption of these upright positions.
The design received much attention at the New Designers 2012 Exhibition in London and resulted in me being selected by Develop3D Magazine as one of the Top 5 New Designers in the UK.
